As you grow older your health normally becomes more important to you. As you age and your metabolism slows down. You must work to eat better, be conscious of your exercise and activities. Discipline to see life through on the day to day basis as it works to drag you back down. In all your activities that you do for yourself, do you look to see what you are feeding your son.
Body Mind and Spirit.
Today I am going to talk about the body. I track what I eat, have for almost 4 years now, almost on auto pilot yet I am still learning new things every day. Now here is the catcher I don’t pay so close attention to what I get my son. I have cut most junk out – but things I didn’t really think about like peanut butter, Ice-cream, crackers, & bread I have kept on a eye on but never really researched in depth.
You say “I only feed my kid healthy meat and vegetables” I will call 99.9% of you liars.
The truth is we get stuff for our kids with out even thinking about the ingredients. It could be anything in the food chain. Admitting they can get away with eating a lot of foods that you can not, because of the slowing down of your metabolism.
One of the big things in recent years that everyone with healthy food sense is talking about, is eliminating corn syrup from your diet. Now as an adult this has been easy for me, getting simple things that my boy likes and can make up for himself is not. Now most of the time when I do a search of food to see what is in it, I look up to see how much corn syrup is in something. Then work to determine if its to much. When really any is to much. Even tho he burns way more calories than I.
Well the other day for some reason, I read the label on the current ice-cream I have been buying him and the first thing on there was corn syrup. Normally the first answer is eliminating ice-cream. Yeah whatever. My thought in this age of tech can I find an ice-cream without corn syrup. Surprise there are still several.
I found this wonderful link with many items that do not have High Fructose Corn Syrup
Check it out, I found it very informative, on one had I had been buying some good things with our realizing it. On the other I could improve on, cost factor wise with little change.
You don’t have to make major changes over night. Start working toward replacing foods in your pantry with healthier alternatives. The long-term effects will help your Son with his health down the road.
