Can you remember the last time you were “all in” with something in your life? What words do you live by that drive you to continually be all in. In times of action and in times of relaxing you must be intentional with your time.
Do you want to sit on the sideline?
When you sit on the couch, playing another video game, totally absorbed at the moment crushing it and leveling up your digital self. Have you ever thought is there is more to life? Your all in for leveling up your game.
You are munching on a bag of chips, watching some sport on the boob tube, cheering your favorite team on, yelling at the competition. May even have your favorite player’s jersey on. At that moment, you are all in for a fan. Think about it, the men or women your watching, are all in for being the best at their sport.
Many times, we live viscerally through others, thinking we could never do what they do. We have excuses for everyone when asked why we don’t go after what we want ourselves. Will, you ever be a pro football player, most likely not, but why couldn’t you be. You could go all in like them, train hard, learn the rules, give you entire life up to it, and become a pro and have your jersey. The most significant difference between you and them is they are all in.
What is the difference between you and the millionaires of the world?
Are you sitting there thinking the world owes you something, taking the government handouts? That you will win the next giant lottery. Putting your hopes and dreams onto others to create for you can reap the benefits. That is not how millionaires made it. They are all in, they wake up early and go after what they want. Mistakes become learning experiences, and failures become a motivation to do better. Naysayers are left by the road’s side, as those who wish to strive to attain their goals.
The man who has a great woman, you look on enviously. What separates you from him. Simple he is all in, he has worked on himself to have the confidence needed to lead. He sets ground rules of a structured life that his woman can grow blossoming into a beautiful woman.
To have what you want in life takes dreams and imaginations. Making them a reality is a straight forward thing.
You must be ALL IN. There is no half-assery.
Blood, sweat, and tears will shed. Yours an others, as you work to accomplish what you set out to do. Let no one hold you back from what you want in this life.
Part of becoming your own man and being all in. You need to come up with a personal set of values that you live by. There are many lists of values out there. Religious, military, tribal, and society. The problems with these systems are they may not all align with yours.
Different value systems are not necessarily bad. In most cases, pulling from these systems is a good thing. A shared value system helps society work as a cohesive group. You need your own unwavering set of values.
A line that you will not cross, a time when you stand and fight.
Over the years, I have worked to have my set, taking others’ ideas to build my own.
I think men lose sight of their value system, relying on someone to tell you your values. Another problem is when the shit hits the fan, these values will not always stand up to the test.
A question put to me, “Pick one word that you will live by.”
I don’t think you can put your life into one word. I have written about the balance between body-mind-spirit. This balance carries over to my system of values. After many evaluations, I have come down to 3 core values.
Knowledge, Truth, and Honor
Three simple words that can encompass everything in my life.
The fact or condition of knowing something with familiarity gained through experience or association.
Latin Agnitio: recognition, knowledge
I continuously learn every day, taking what I know, and applying it to my life. Sometimes things I take for granted or I find out are wrong, I change them. I use what I learn to better my life and work to share with others to expand their knowledge.
If my son asks me a question that I don’t know the answer to, I work to get him the answer. Not only does he grow from it, but I also grow. Recognizing that I don’t know everything makes me realize it is okay to ask for help and seek answers. When I have the answers, I then can teach you and others, which solidifies what I have learned. Gaining knowledge also leads to my next value.
The body of real things, events, and facts: ACTUALITY
Latin Veritas: truth.
Truths these days seem hard to come by. News twists the truth. The government is full of half-truths; society works to change what people perceive to be true.
Knowledge leads one to find truths.
Some say the only truth is one day you will die, if that were your only truth, life would have no meaning then. I believe life is full of meaning.
I also believe that when one starts to see truths that it leads to faith.
Now faith can be simple as knowing that a chair built well will hold you up to the most complex of faiths believing that there is a God, a greater power, a spiritual side to your life.
These two men recently explored faith.
Man Needs Worship To Be Fulfilled
God Should Be The Focus Of Worship And Fulfillment
I think each man must define himself.
If you stumbled upon this article and you are one that is sitting there eating your bag of chips. Letting life pass you buy. Look at how you define your life. What ideas do you live by? Do you like who you are? Are you intentional in your relaxing and being all in, in the other areas of your life?
