We are over a month into this lock down and the things I feared would happen have. Families are getting tired of each other. It started a few weeks ago with parents complaining about having to actually take part in their kids’ education. I’m not sure which platform I ranted about that on, wither here or twitter or, possibly both. This drove me mad. It really brought out in the people I associated myself with who actually cared about their kids raising and education, and who doesn’t understand or take their role as a parent seriously. We men after all are charged with teaching our children how to be prosperous and healthy adults one day. Let us move onto something else before I rant again on that subject.
What I want to talk about is the amount of men I am seeing that are tired of being “cooped” up with their family. You know something, when you got married, when you had kids, this is what you signed up for. There is an expectation that you will be there to provide, and protect, to teach and to instruct. These are roles that are unique to men and God commanded.
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.”
Colossians 3:19 “Husbands love your wives and, and do not be harsh with them.”
Ephesians 5:28 “In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife, loves himself.”
Are you catching my drift here? Suck it up buttercup, this situation can be as good or as bad as you make it. And your mentality and attitude is what makes the situation, you are the leader your family follows your lead. If you are negative, so are they if you will be positive, so will they. If you interact and teach, and make the best of this, so will they. If you are miserable, it is your own fault, shut up about it and fix it.
