Mindset Is A Product Of Your Free Will

by Dec 11, 2019

Where is your mind at? What has your focus? Your mindset is what guides your interactions, your decisions, and your emotions. The bible has a lot to say about what mindset the Christian should strive to keep. Yes, we all know love, that’s everyone’s go to. “The bible says I should love everyone.” How dreamy of a response, but alas, the answer isn’t quiet so simple. Mindset has a tremendous amount of effect on your life this is mainly because your god is whatever occupies your mind the most, and remember the 2nd commandment? I have several scripture bombs to drop in this article so without further delay:

Romans 8:5-8 5Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

Yeah that one stings. I’m sure God isn’t the priority in most people’s day to day lives. How many of you start your day in prayer? If you are a follower of mine and you are reading this post than I will assume you have a desire to walk closer with God. In order to do this, one must step on the toes of others. Hope you have your steel toe boots on.

There is no excuse to not have God first in your life, before your job, before your wife, before your children. Until you come to realize this, and accept this, you cannot walk into life with the correct mindset. Romans 12:1-2 1Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

You see God operates on a different level than us, but as Christians it should be our goal, our mission in life to reach His level of understanding. Most anger and hatred of God comes from this lack of understanding. Many fall away spiritually because of this poor thought pattern that God is here to serve you and to bless you. YOU are here to serve and glorify God.

Isaiah 55:9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

So instead of going on with a sermon, I think the best thing for me to do is give you some verses to study and pray over.

Ephesians 4:31-32

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

Proverbs 12:25

Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Hebrews 13:5

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Colossians 3:2

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth

This blog has differed greatly from my usual content but there’s a reason for it. You can get all the coaching, and advise that you wish, but until you realize that you need a different mindset, those words are empty. The change in yourself comes from you and through Christ. Your mindset is a product of your free will and the mindset that you yourself choose to have.  I will leave you with one last verse.

2 Timothy 2:7

Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything
