Moving a hundred miles and hour through life, creation and chaos waring at every moment to get ahead. There comes a time when maintenance is needed to keep up with this level of activity. We work to automate the maintenance mode and then forget about and move on. Yet there is the problem we face. When you automate there is a break in the chain of it getting done. Calendars, reminders, check off lists you have all these yet when is the last time you did more than look at the list. When have you gone done and check it off, stopped at made the time to accomplish these things to keep your life going and in the long run save you time and money?
I should change my air filter out monthly. I had been doing
quite good for awhile then all of sudden the other day, the air didn’t feel is
cool when the AirCon kicked on. The fan running at a different pitch, struggling
to get enough air. The air in the house has a bit of odor to it. Well I took a
look at the filter; it was all but plugged up. For lack of maintenance I compromised
the system- cleaner air, less stress on system for air flow, all for not replacing
a three-dollar filter. Long term possibly costing me thousand in repairs, not counting
the extra power that is needed to have the system keep up. Soon as I changed it
out, noticeable change. For what sixty seconds of my life to change a filter
Think about that one min and three bucks saving me hours and dollars.
I have been nonstop on the go; I have neglected my oil change on my car for no other reason that only think about it going down the road on to the next thing. I know better than this, most of my life has revolved around maintenance of engines. I know when I get my oil change my fuel mileage will go up, I know it will help keep my engine running and clean for a long time. yes, I have the necessary tool do it myself, tho lacking a good location atm. Thing is for what I am spending to have it done more than pays for the time that it would take me. A trade off which lead to even less of excuse for getting it accomplished. Again, this will lead to me saving hours of time with headaches and large sums of funds in repairs.
How many things like these two do we avoid or put off even when we know that in the long run it will benefit us. House, apt, vehicle, tools, anything we have, preventive maintenance goes along way to making our life easier even if it can be tedious.
I would be remiss not to bring this to you the person. What preventive maintenance do you practice for yourself? Do you ever take a break? Do you ever take a full moment in your life and stop and look around at the world you live in and appreciate it? I think many of us, myself included get moving so fast that we forget to take time for ourselves and intentionally enjoy life. Just as changing a couple of simple filters can make a world of difference, take moments of time for yourself. It will make your time more efficient.
