Social Media the bane of the human race, a gilded cage, a curse when used wrong, it will suck the ambition right out of you and waste large amounts of time spent that you could be spending time on to be more productive. Simple as enjoying a walk or writing your first book.
This is harped on enough by all sectors of people being productive. Which makes one chuckle because these same people you see all over social media. Strange isn’t it.
Today I am going to only talk about Twitter. For those that have a gaming background specially in the PC mmorpg’s, like myself you will get this. All twitter is – is game chat – think about it. You have the main chat, DMs, group chats, with some likes and retweets thrown in. The developers basically made a chat channel for the game of life. Now comes down to how do you use this knowledge, do you endlessly scroll through thousands of tweets for what? The “what” should be what you are thinking about. Are you looking for motivation, inspiration, keeping pulse on the digital world? Or are you using it to make connections with people that will carry over into real life, selling a product or a service? That is the ticket, are you using it to make your life better or is it just a time sync. That is what you need evaluate on regular basis. I personally think if you not making money from it you shouldn’t be on there. Few listens to that and for that reason it is why many can be sold something because they are looking for the fix. And that is OK if that is your purpose, however, don’t get stuck looking for fixes.
Wait, you say don’t hang out on or get off Twitter completely? Yes, in simple layman’s terms exactly that. Then how about all my favorite gurus, they hang out there all the time? How about guys I see that motivate constantly? sharing their message? people selling their wares? Even you? Are you not on Twitter on a regular basis? The answer to this is yes, I have a presence on Twitter, however I am not on there all the time. I average less than 30 mins a day at this point of time. I am on Twitter and less than two hours a week setting things up for Twitter.
The first guide that I pick up awhile ago, was Sean’s @westernmastery, This helped me get going and starting to work on Twitter with intent instead of mindlessly being there. Now, I had been wanting to up my game on Twitter some more, I recently picked up Twitter Money Mastery by Jose Rosado. Between these two these two I have changed my outlook on what Twitter is and how it should be used.
Now to reduce time spent, I messed with the free version of Buffer and Hootsuite but never became a fan. Then along came HypeFury, this was the missing link I needed to up my game. It has the tools I wanted in an easy to use manner, yes, its new, its evolving, and it is bringing more tools to the game. You want the best tool for Twitter, get on board with HypeFury. Samy Dindane is the developer of HypeFury and besides making a great tool he is great man to have a chat with.
At the end, my thoughts, if you can do away social media all together, I think you will be better off for it. If you do decided use it, make it work for you.
